Scrapbooking 101




ok, it has been a while since I posted. I started a new job at UCSD and the girls have been s-i-c-k for almost a month now. yuck. love my new job, hate germs. ha ha

But, wanted to let you all know that I am teaching a Scrapbooking 101 class at My Creative Classroom! I am super excited for this class, I have been teaching so much photography lately, it is fun to get to teach something different.

here is a overview of the class:
COURSE DESCRIPTION: Learn the fundamentals of creating a scrapbook layout that not only tells a story, but is engaging to the viewer. Scrapbook 101 is a theory based class, so we won't be making a specific projects - rather we are going to create layouts using the concepts we have discussed.
Week 1: Tool time! We will discuss the basic tools and how to use them, how to choose a trimmer and adhesive. Which adhesives and glues to use on what...
Week 2: Inspiration: Instead of duplicating other people's layouts, we will discover other places to find inspiration. Discover new ways to spark your creativity. This is about finding your personal scrapbook style.
Week 3: Concept/Premise: This is about deciding the basics of the layout. Who is it for and what the feeling will be. What are you trying to say. Sketches & Page maps.
Week 4: Components/Elements: This week focuses on harmony and how to get all the pieces to work together. Making sure all your elements support your theme. Knowing when to stop adding elements

Week 6- Craftsmanship: This week is about details and taking it to the next level. How to add details without overpowering your layout. Or I like to say "When to stick a fork in it!"
