Stained Glass Cookies

We made stained glass cookies last night. Davi brought home a cookbook from the school library and I thought these would be perfect for Christmas.
Make a batch of sugar cookies and roll out. cut a large star and a small star. Put the large star with the hollow middle on one tray and the small star from the center on another tray- the smaller stars cook a bit faster.
The large star cookies for the stained glass must be cooked on parchment paper. Place on parchement paper and add a candy in the middle.
Bake for 10 minutes at 350 degrees. wait a bit before trying to move the cookies, let the melted candy center cool and harden first.
Very fun cookies for Christmas, and yummy too.

Enjoying the snow

Mt Laguna

We took advantage of our winter weather and headed about 25 miles east and up the road. It rained a bit overnight and I took a chance there would be snow. We live at about 1200 ft elevation, but if you go east, you also travel up to about 6000 ft elevation. We packed up the sleds and a picnic lunch and food for the blue jays and squirrels. There wasn't much snow, but the girls had enough to sled in and just play in the cool winter air. wow, it smelled so nice up there, like pine :) there were icicles hanging from the small Sycamore trees, and clumps of green mistletoe in stark contrast to the bare branches of the deciduous trees. It was nice and sunny so it felt warm in the sun, but it was about 42 degrees in the shade. It is such a treat for my Southern California girls. What a perfect way to get in the Christmas spirit, and enjoy God's natural beauty.

Yummy Cake!

This is one of my favorite projects that I have done lately. For Scrapfest I designed a class that puts 8 little triangle boxes together to form a "cake" - I was inspired to go with pink and black (I am in a pink and black phase) theme and use these boxes for the girls next birthday party. We have already ordered decorations and party favors 6 months ahead. we are having a "pink poodle in Paris" party, its the big thing right now. all the party stores are carrying plates, napkins, etc. that have pink poodles on them.

I will have these kits on etsy in a couple of days, but I would love it if you came to Scrapfest Jan 19th & 20th to take the class. http://www.scrapfestsandiego.com/

the class or kit will include 8 die cut boxes, pattern paper and all the embellishments, instructions and everything to make the flag toppers.
