scrappy me

ha ha- love the title. the journaling reads :

The best part about scrapbooking is the friends I have made.

most of my scrapbook pages are girly colors and themes.

my favorite scrapbook line is Queen & co. just fits my style perfectly.

I jsut love stitching on my layouts - it adds color and detail.

scrapbooking reminds me of the fabulous life I have and how blessed I am.

Scrappy me.

my princess

I made this layout for a design team challenge for Memories in the Making, Santee.

The challenge was to use a sheet of roll disney stickers and a piece of pattern paper- but use the stickers and pattern paper in an unique way.
here is a detail of the butterfly. I cut a butterfly out of the pattern paper and then added Queen & Co beads along the edge. I propped the wings up a bit with pop dots and added wire for antennae.

the beads, brads, chip board and flowers are all Queen & Co. the paper is sandylion and the stickers are EK.

Very existing to see the full page ads run in Scrapbooks Etc. This month!!

I have reconnected with several friends who saw me on the show and called or emailed me to say they saw it :)

Yesterday my family got to see thier grand daughters or neices on the show scrapbooking with me - so fun!!! they are all calling saying they saw the show and how grown up the girls look

Fall in San Diego

"Kids- let's get ready to go to the pumpkin patch!! **kids squealing** Wear shorts and don't forget to put on sunscreen!"

"yes,..we will get snow cones after picking a pumpkin"

yes, its warm here in san diego, like 95 degrees and very dry

on the positive side, my kids can wear a belly dancer costume, hula girl costume, or any costume with no sleeves and flip flops without having to cover up with a jacket while trick or treating :)

Art imitates Life (or lifestyle)

Hallie brings me a picture she drew - hands it to me and declares proudly: "I drew a picture of you!"
Trying to make out what it is...I say "this is me??"

she says "Yeah! That is you watching yourself OVER and OVER on the computer...You know the Lifesavers show??"

(scrapbook lifestyle)

she says "that is the computer showing your hands making a bead shaker box..you liked to watch that a lot"

"that is the back of your head- your hair is messy since you just woke up"

"and that is the keyboard and you are emailing your friends about you on the show"

amazing observation of a 6 year old :)

the attention to detail and the amazing likeness of my messy hair is phenomenal!! :)

the first time hallie saw the show on the computer she said "you will never guess what happened! Come quick!! There is a woman on the computer and she LOOKS JUST LIKE YOU!!"

Purse for Davi

I made this for the Queen & Co booth for Memory Trends.

I didnt tell or show davi it before I left and so when I came home it was a suprise :)

it was a "box" that she had gotten like over a year ago for her birthday- it was filled with nail polish and lip gloss...so I ran it through the dishwasher and made it into something special.

On the inside I put her "top 10 favorites" {since she is 10 years old} and a list of her friends :)

I used Queen & Co alpha bettys, bling rings, chic charms, fab flowers, bon bon brads, hook ups, fontastics (chipboard letters), sassy sequins, love letters. the rub ons are all Frances Meyer- they have a darling girly line :)

TFL!!!

a profound thought

A message every adult should read, because children
are watching you and doing as you do, not as you say.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you hang my
first painting on the refrigerator, and I immediately wanted
to paint another one.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you feed a
stray cat, and I learned that it was good to be kind
to animals.

When you thought I wasn't looking , I saw you make my favorite cake
for me and I learned that the little things can be the special things
in life.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I heard you say a
prayer, and I knew there is a God I could always
talk to and I learned to trust in God.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you make a
meal and take it to a friend who was sick, and I
learned that we all have to help take care of each other.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you give of
your time and money to help people who had nothing
and I learned that those who have something should
give to those who don't.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you take
care of our house and everyone in it and I learned
we have to take care of what we are given.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw how you
handled your responsibilities, even when you didn't
feel good and I learned that I would have to be
responsible when I grow up.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw tears come
from your eyes and I learned that sometimes things
hurt, but it's all right to cry.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw that you
cared and I wanted to be everything that I could be.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I learned most of
life's lessons that I need to know to be a good and
productive person when I grow up.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I looked at you
and wanted to say, "Thanks for all the things I saw
when you thought I wasn't looking."

I AM POSTING THIS FOR ALL OF THE PEOPLE
I KNOW WHO DO SO MUCH FOR OTHERS AND
THINK NO ONE EVER SEES.

LITTLE EYES SEE A LOT.

Each of us (parent, grandparent, aunt, uncle,
teacher or friend) influence the life of a child.
How will you touch the life of someone today?

Happy Birthday to me!

yeah- one year older. whee.

went to yoga at 8 am- my friend linda is good at outing me - she walks in to class while I am doing rabbit pose (on my knees, head touching my knees, holding my heels and butt in the air) and walks in and puts a present next to me. Dave, the instructor says "what is this?? **teasing**" and linda yells "Happy Birthday!!"

when I came home,I heard "hurry- she's home!!" and little feet scrambling- shane had starbucks (Chai tea latte, non fat, not so hot) and presents and the girls yelled Happy birthday!!

they got me bunches of yoga clothes and flowers.

I had so many friends call and email me happy birthday today- that was the best- just the fact people remembered my birthday.

we went to lunch, I scrapbooked with the girls and then took a nap. we went out and got a quick dinner and went to Disney On Ice !!

the girls loved disney on ice- it was peter pan, 101 dalmations, little mermaid and lilo and stitch. Cruella de Ville was in a real short skirt and did this pretty seductive skating routine to this real slow music- I looked over at shane and he gave me the thumbs up. Later on during the lilo and stitch segment, they had guys lined up like right in front of us doing the hula (in the like short sarong type of skirts the guys wear at luaus) they had no shirts on and dancing to Elvis' "Burning hunk of Love" or is it Hunk of burning love? anyhow the mom behind me yells out "Baby!!" like she is about to stuff a $1 bill in thier skirt any minute and I look over at Davi and she says "Hey there is something for everyone at this show!" ha ha ha.

Indeed.

Scrapbook Lifestyle Premiere!!

wow, cant believe it is here - Oct 2.

First day of Scrapbook Lifestyle. Feels like I have been waiting so long to see the final product and now its here.

I kept getting up all night to see if it was online and running yet.

Must have watched it like 4 times in a row- kinda surreal to see yourself like that. I was surprised since the summary said "melissa's first page" and then it was me.

Better Homes and Gardens and Adobe and all the sponsors I think will be really happy - such a cool little show, very fast paced and fun to watch.

In the morning I started the show for the girls and then went into the other room to keep getting dressed. Hallie came knocking on the door..

"Mommy! Come quick! You will never guess what happened!! On your computer with the show- there is a WOMAN who looks JUST LIKE YOU!!"

Shane took that one and walked hallie back to the computer and told her it was me. I told her later "yeah that is mommy with make up and my hair done" - Davi responded with - "you should do yourself like that every day"

there is a link to the show to the right or you can try www.scrapbooklifestyle.com or http://wwwbhgscrapbooksetc.com/video/

thanks for watching :)
